Q: What was your motivation for installing solar panels?
A: “The town finally decided to pave the road and removed three beautiful trees on the southeast side of my lot. I decided to make lemonade from lemons and go for solar. My roof was twenty so years old so, I had to do the roof anyway.”
Q: What were your considerations in selecting Public Service Solar as your solar provider?
A: “I was looking for a reliable, all-in-one provider. Public Service Solar was very professional and didn’t pressure me. I especially appreciated their conservative and realistic outlook, which wasn’t overly optimistic.”
Q: What was your solar installation experience?
A: “Solar installation is the last step. As an experienced engineer, I know that the most important step is system design. You cannot have a successful installation with a poor design. Design-wise, I had two engineering meetings because after the first meeting, the math “wasn’t mathing.” After the second meeting, we had a robust, albeit conservative, system design. Public Service didn’t try to sell me more panels or try to squeeze more panels into places that would make chimney maintenance harder. Everything was planned according to code and without trying to cut corners. Roof replacement was done with a lot of attention to detail. There were some issues, but all of them were meticulously resolved. The solar installation was done flawlessly, and all inspections passed.”
Q: What has your solar experience been since the installation?
A: “The solar panel system is performing well. To avoid paying for the Enphase API, I developed a custom shade analysis and monitoring system. This self-designed setup proved its reliability during an AWS outage. By utilizing the collected data, I was able to identify and trim specific branches from the large backyard tree, resulting in an increase in solar output.”
